Coastal Calling

Coastal Calling

Who can say why one person is drawn to the water's edge, the Coast, the Gulf, the streams, and inlets, the oceans, yet while another heads to the world's snowiest peaks.  Many are thrown into the rolling waves or tidal beds by mere coincidence and environment, only to quickly retreat as a child who hastily runs ashore from a hungry surf while seeking life's refuse far up in the sand's barrier.

As for me, by family opportunity and environment, I was shown and introduced to the coastal way of life in a summer's time and I did not hastily retreat. Instead I opened up every vein in the body and let the salt, sand, wind, breezes, water, and sky take its place.  There it remains.  There it remains, running, pulsing, flowing, and breathing through out my being; and calling me, saving me, sheltering me, and offering a carried piece of life's beauty and becoming a necessary barnacled puzzle piece.

I offer a scattering of these pieces to you, and perhaps some of you may share this same love and allure, the same need, and the same salty blood type.
